Picture designs for T-shirts and other projects

The top has a ruched center in the zebra print fabric.
This is the first phase of my t-shirt designs.
So I got to sit down and create a cute(in the first phase) print for a t-shirt for a boy. I am currently working on a couple of things, class work, zebra print dress and t-shirt designs. The zebra print dress has an A-line skirt with its own ruched center piece. The dress closes with an invisible antique zipper in the color; apple green, like the bodice. The frog is a sample idea of designs for little boys that is cute and fun. I'm not done painting this picture, I just remembered to blog. Sorry about the pictures, they had to be taken with my web cam, its not that great of quality.  I'll post better ones when the camera is done charging, and more details on the t-shirts.  Happy sewing to everyone!

Maybe a Name Change!!!!!

I am sitting at my desk and looking over the beginning of my portfolio and realised the designs I have decided on do not go with my philosophy statement, so I am wondering if I should change the name of my line? What do you think keep Simply Kids' or change it to one of the following? I think changing  my philosophy statement in order then too.

My name ideas:
1. Designs by T.Marie
2. Fashionable Kids
3. T's Designs
Does anyone have name ideas that work? Please let me know what you think.

It's Done!!!!!!!! The dress that is.

So I finished the dress with the bustle pad last night. It is so cute, however my daughter doesn't like the bustle.

The back of the dress with the bustle attached. I like how the fabric pops out of the over skirt. When she wore the dress the bustle stood out to give the desired effect.
The dress without the over skirt and the geese ( aren't they just adorable? The geese and the dress of course!) This is the bustle pad with Velcro to hold it to the dress. The next picture is the bustle attached to the back of the dress at waistline.  I know the bustle pad is not correct to its history however it makes a wonderful addition to the under skirt.

Another picture of the dress without the over skirt. I really liked how this turned out and can't wait for my daughter to wear it around the Aquarium tomorrow.

Sketch to dress

OK first I will show you the sketch of the dress in the original fabrics. (I am waiting for the emails to come through from my phone.) I found a bright almost neon green fabric which goes well with the leopard print. So the bodice is made of the leopard print and the under skirt and the bustle are green. I am still working out the details of the bustle, but I know its going to be tulle covered by the green fabric. This way it is not an itch-y and uncomfortable for the little princess.  I will have better pictures when I get home and can use my camera instead of my phone.
My next project is screen printing on t-shirts that I have in mind. While at my mother- in-law's I took a great picture of the new pine cones growing in her front yard (it is a beautiful blend of colors.) I think with accenting glitter it will be a wonderful t-shirt of course this would be for a girl. Now I just need to come up with an idea for a great little boy.
Sorry this took so long, I have had a few family issues since I started this post.  I will have a picture of the finished dress in a few days.

Just another quick note

Just a quick note!

Since I haven't posted lately I thought I'd talk about a dress I am designing. This dress came about from one of my projects for fashion design class. The original design is for an adult, which I hope to make later down the line.  Okay I'll have to post a picture of both designs tonight after the kids are in bed, mainly because I need to find them (the pictures not the kids:)). Well the design is similar to a pinafore dress however this one has a built in bustle. The bustle allows the underskirt to push out from under the top skirt. With this design the under dress is only seen from the back. The original dress the over skirt attaches with a invisible zipper, so I am working to incorporate that feature in the child's dress. I have two sets of fabric picked out for this design. These fabrics are neon colors and very bright, just not in the pictures. The child's dress will have a full bodice without sleeves. I am still deciding on a sweetheart neckline or a rounded one. I will have a mock up done by this weekend  as long as every goes as planned.
The fabrics are brighter then in the picture.
The top fabric has neon colors in it.

Firefighter shorts for a Cool Boy!

Hey everyone!

So today I am working on sewing some more shorts for little boys. I found this great fabric (at Walmart of all places!) with blocked print of words and firefighter related pictures. It makes awesome shorts for a fun little boy who loves all things that go. I haven't had a chance to get back to finishing the shorts, but it will be done by the end of my very late night. Then I will post a finished picture. The color scheme in the fabric gives the wearer a good number of shirt choices. This is a great way to teach kids about color coordinating without  being too match-y- match-y ( as my son does not like to match at all).

This is a close-up of the pocket detail, after the waistband is folded down he will have a nice deep pocket within reach. I will be working with the design on the next pair so it aligns within the seams. It should be a fun and interesting challenge, as I haven't really worried about. But as I look at the shorts I think it would really cool to see words and pictures continue over the seams.

Pocket up close
To get back to the business end of my creative designing, this pair of shorts is for my son to wear to school. I think this is a good way to get my name out there. I am starting small due to a big fear of being a failure. I need to work on getting over that issue, because not doing my business would be a failure too. So I have a few ideas for starting locations, kinda like a garage sale type setup. I'm going to ask if I can have a "yard sale" like sale in the local business's parking lot. I am estimating that I will be ready for this step by the end of the month (maybe even sooner!) Here's to making a profit!
(PS I love spell check! After a long day it is greatly needed.)

Creating my dream!

Hey everyone!

My name is Tegan and I am going write about my dream. My dream is to have a children's clothing line and a store front. Fashion has always been an interest in my life, however since having kids, its become very important to find cute clothes that fit into my requirements.  These requirements; age appropriate, simple (but cute, too) and well made, have been a challenge for me to find in the local stores.  I feel that kids should dress as kids and should not be little copies of adults. There is a classic feeling to a simple cut dress for a little girl. With the simple cut one can play with fun fabrics and not lose the sweet girl wearing the dress. I just love the little details within the construction of an outfit that no one really sees but makes a wonderful difference.  So I am working on creating the clothing line Simply Kids for ages 3-10 boys and girls, which I will be posting here.
